Fall Transition | What To Wear Right Now!

Today I am joining these wonderful & popular bloggers to talk about Fall Fashion! We each put our spin on it, and mine is “Dressing For Fall When It’s Still 150º Outside!”

My H&M dress and India Hicks bag | Espadrilles

Hello ladies and Welcome To Fall! Or should I welcome you to “the hopefully soon ending of hell on earth”? WELL - regardless of fall being right around the corner, it’s still hot out there, in many parts of the globe! What to wear when you are feeling fall, but you still have those pesky summer temps? Here in Virginia, it will be hot for a while. We won’t be pulling out the blazers and sweaters for another month or so. How many of you know exactly what your fall wardrobe lacks right this minute? If you do, KUDOS to you - you are waaaaay ahead of me.

How do you make this transition?

My mantra for spring is “lighter colors/heavier weights” and for fall, it’s the opposite - “darker colors/lighter weights”. It takes me through September/October.

Read on to see what I’m wearing now and my great finds to take you through the next few weeks till the chilliness finally arrives!

Let’s discuss…

In the photo above, I’m wearing an very lightweight animal print dress from H&M, so it LOOKS like fall, but it doesn’t FEEL like fall. When it gets colder, I add a faux leather moto jacket, a scarf and boots.

My Everlane Dress & Sam Edelman Espadrilles | Turkish Towel

This dress is a heavier weight cotton, with 3/4 sleeves and just above the knee. Now I wear it with a hat during the day or a turkish towel in the evening, and flat espadrilles. When it gets colder, I will add a jacket, a heavier scarf, tights and booties.

Dress | Bag | Mules (on sale)

I love this dress that I got for a recent trip. This is that great Bettina dress from Anthro that is selling like hotcakes. I have it in two prints. So simple with leather mules and a fun handbag. I would add my jean jacket for evening now, and I probably would not wear this one in cooler weather.

Dress/Duster | My jeans from Etcetera | Sandals | Readers

I have this dress in several colors and it’s one of my favorite buys from Amazon. You can’t beat it for spring and fall and if you see me at the grocery store - chances are I am in one of these and my Birkenstocks. A comfy/quick look. This is another look that I would retire before it gets chilly.

My s/s oversized polo & Ella Moss jeans | Loafers | Sunnies (similar) | Ears

This look is great with a scarf or jacket at night. I can’t say enough about the loafers - LOVE! They come in tons of textures and colors and they come in WIDE, which makes them sososo comfy. Like “slipper comfy” girls!

Here are some great finds for early fall - you can add to them when it gets colder and pull some of them back out in the spring next year!

Many of these pieces can turn a white tee and jeans into a fall look!

A simple pretty lightweight dress from H&M.

This jumpsuit comes in several pretty prints and is perfect for this time of year.
A ready made outfit. Love it.

Love these Boden ears. These are three season and on sale!

These are inexpensive and great to throw on for a quick errand or around the house. Super comfy with an easy tee. Great for spring too.

Love this gorgeous line of jewelry - Fallen Aristocrat. These earrings are not as pricey as most of the pieces, and they exude fall. LOVE!

A great simple cropped shirt for jeans - cropped usually doesn’t mean cropped for me! You probably can’t tuck it in though, so wear it with a higher waist pant with a wide leg.

This easy breezy jersey dress is great for the shoulder seasons. Comes in navy and black. Comfy and flattering. Again from Modern Citizen.

This is a great warm weather cropped jean from Madewell.

A more cool take on the Mary Jane trend. From Zara.

These simple flats are classic and another great take on the Mary Jane trend. I have these on order. They were on sale at this writing!

I love these great looking loafers from Boden. You would have them forever. They’re never not classy.

I think this is a nice departure for a denim jacket. Very classic with a small feminine detail. It looks great belted and open. Great price.

This is my favorite Maeve dress from Anthro (see my pic above) in another pretty print. It’s a bestseller for them and I can see why.

A great looking print shirt with jeans or even shorts if you wear them and it’s hot.

The classic year round sleeveless top comes in black and white. The price is great. You can wear it with white jeans in the spring and under a blazer in the fall. Love the brand - Modern Citizen.

A great basic at a good price.

I finally splurged on these timeless heels from French Sole. I will have them until they wear out - or I do - whichever comes first! Very classy with anything you pair them with - my faves would be jeans with a black top. Done.

A great looking cotton sweater from Ann Taylor. Instant fall without a heavy feel.

A cotton blend lady jacket. Pull it out next spring again. Great with a tee or cami underneath, or by itself. Me likey.

A great looking longer vest, with black pants or jeans. You could put a black tee under it now and a crewneck or t-neck later. Love it belted or not!

This is a good price and also comes in a pretty forest green color. And of course it comes in black. A classic three season dress.

Love these pretty bangles in fall shades.

Yes this is pricey but you will have it forever. It never goes out of style. I would wear it with tights and flats. Or maaaaaybe if I had a reeaally good tan, I could wear it in warmer weather. Many of you ladies have nice legs though, so you could rock it right now.

This knit jumpsuit is great looking and would be great to travel in, if you don’t mind the bathroom situation. I just got it and it is soo comfy.

I think this is so good looking and how comfy would this be? You have to have some height to pull it off, but how chic? From BR.

This line is a new favorite - introduced to me by Cindy Hattersley - Quince. I will be talking about their amazing cashmere soon, but this leather tote caught my eye. Comes in several yummy colors and under $100 for leather is great. Great value in this line…

Vests are big this fall and this lightweight linen vest comes in several colors. Slightly cropped which means correct length for those of us under 5’5”! Also instant outfit - white tee, vest and jeans. Done!

I saw these on Cindy’s blog last week and loved the look, and they are sure to be comfy ones. These are similar to an Eileen Fisher shoe that I love, but much less $$!

Love this easy top from Pilcro. Good for year round wear. I do NOT endorse the daisy duke look tho….

Great flats for a classic fall look that are 50% at this writing!

Hope you enjoyed this early fall grouping and you found something OR it helps you to brainstorm what you already have, that can refresh your look for the next two months!
