Gadabout | Part 4

Lots of goodness in this one too! There are a ton of interesting items for you to check out. Without further ado, a reminder since I have a lot of new readers…

Gadabout is an assortment of what I come across that I think is good enough to pass on to you. It’s sort of like “Faves & Finds” or “Books & Screen”, but doesn’t have a theme, which those posts are based on. It has no theme at all.

IT’S A LIST OF GREAT STUFF, PLACES, INSPIRATION, SONGS, NEWS, QUOTES, STORIES, ETC!

Gadabout - n. - a habitual pleasure seeker; an explorer or rambler; one who roves about in search of amusement, moving aimlessly from one thing to another

Here’s today’s list - click on highlighted text for links to the info.

  • This is a great way to sample paint quickly and with zero mess… and about the same price or less than the small actual paint samples, with no wasted paint and leftover containers. Win-win…

  • A wonderful piece from Sharon Santoni of My French Country Home, on her birthday in February and why “reinvention is still a thing”. Since “conversations of reinvention” is part of my tagline, I loved it.

  • I love this idea for place cards for dinners and holidays. Sparks fun conversation. Rather than paying for engraved ones, just make and print your own!

  • If you haven’t seen this year's Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House, here are some peeks at what all the fuss is about. I love several of the rooms. It was a good one but I think my faves are the rooms by Amanda Lindroth and Danielle Rollins, and the pool lounge by Billy Ceglia. I also loved the wallpapered ceilings….getting ready to do that at my house soon!

  • Wanna know how to do a killer Bloody Mary or Mimosa bar for your spring gatherings? Here ya go…

  • This is a really nice accent table for the price - marble and glass with gold finish.

  • Modern Mrs. Darcy’s Spring 2023 book recommendations.

  • Experts recommend these 13 stretches for lower back pain - which I now have EVERY MORNING upon waking. No matter what bed I’m in. I am desperate for a new mattress, but where to start???

  • I talk about it on here and post memes on Instagram, but What is Toxic Positivity with grief or loss? Read about it here….

  • I don’t have a link for this, because it was in an email from Vickie Archer. Here’s the gist of it - her favorite travel uniform of the moment is a blazer, a tee or tneck, and a wide leg jean and sneakers. I’m all in.

  • A great short piece by Brenda at 1010 Park Place about surviving what life throws in your path. She also talks about using guided imagery to help with blood pressure, stress and trauma. She mentions Bellaruth Naperstek, who I listened to via my grief therapist. She is very good, her voice is wonderful. I highly recommend the piece and Bellaruth.

  • Here is the beautiful and mod home of my friend, by the uber talented, colorful and sunshiny designer, Janie Molster, a hometown girl! I was there over the holidays and forgot to show it to you last time. Isn’t it the most uplifting, vibrant space? I love it.

  • This is another wonderful space that was featured in Veranda, a renovated home and barn on Block Island, off the coast of Rhode Island where we go each summer if we can. This property is absolute perfection! It was last years’ third most popular featured home on the site.

  • These little kitten heeled mules come in all colors and are so great for the price. I have not ordered them, but they are on my list!

  • Here is an art source that I forgot to add to last week’s gallery wall/art postmore great framable photographs and modern abstracts …..and a great article about wall decor - alternatives to canvas and prints.

  • How to cut hellebores (Lenton Roses) like a pro! They are a favorite of mine - they are the first thing to bloom, before or with the daffodils and the deer will not touch them. Typically if you cut them and put them in water, they wilt and look dead. This is a great how-to on how to avoid that!

  • It’s tax time and that means papers, files, everywhere… Here’s a great article on The Zhush about organizing important documents. Yes there is still paperwork that’s not on the internet.

  • I don’t know anything about CreateAcademy.com, but I really want to take this class by Jess Wheeler…and this one by Willow Crossley.

  • Jan Correll from Silver Is The New Blonde - has a great feature on her Instagram account - she does Tuesday tips and I have learned and found some cool things from her. @silver_isthenewblonde

  • Emily Lex has great a watercolor class online for kids and one for you! Inexpensive and simple. She also has great artwork, scripture cards and paper goods.

  • It’s hard to find silk botanicals that look real. This place has them.

  • Believe it or not, I don’t have a good three season trench coat. I think I’m getting this one

  • How to be a good conversationalist? Apply this rule! It can be very hard…

Ok that’s it today for interesting internet information and finds. (Say that three times fast.) Hope you found a goodie or two in there for yourself. Next up, we’ll be pouring over spring Faves & Finds and taking a trip down to Charleston with the ladies!
